At the heart of the International Relations department is our commitment to developing a global mindset among students.
Through dynamic global partnerships, we create meaningful opportunities for international experience, allowing students to engage directly with the world’s diverse cultures, systems, and ideas. Recognizing the urgent challenges of our time, we emphasize sustainability and adaptability to global change as essential components of a global education.
Through the Centre for TransCultural Studies within the IR Department, we offer two core subjects: Global Studies and Sustainability & Climate Action. These two academic subjects equip students with the awareness and skills needed to address complex, evolving global issues with responsibility and foresight.
Our holistic programmes prepare students to think critically, act ethically, and lead thoughtfully in an increasingly interconnected world.
Global Partnership
Temasek Polytechnic has fostered partnerships with reputable organisations, both local and international such as Temasek Foundations, the National Youth Council Singapore (NYC), the National Integration Council (NIC), the National Heritage Board (NHB), and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, and International Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (UNESCO UNEVOC), Colleges of Technology in Japan KOSEN, and Passage to ASEAN P2A. Since 2023, Temasek Polytechnic has also been accepted to be part of The UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN).
These valuable partners bring in funding, expert, expertise, and cross-cultural interactions that enrich and optimize our experiential learning programmes so that students and staff can connect with people and build a web of local-global network, ideas and resources.
Overseas Students Internship Programme
As part of Singapore’s regionalisation drive, students from Temasek Polytechnic are encouraged to complete an Overseas Student Internship Programme (OSIP). OSIP is carried out in relevant industries where students undertake various activities assigned and experience problem solving in practical, real-life situations. Through the programme, students are able to gain an international outlook and global mindset, as well as practical experience and life skills in a real work environment.
We invite your organisation to be our partner-in-training. As an OSIP host organisation, the programme may offer the following benefits:
- Opportunities to tap on students’ skills and knowledge;
- Promote exchanges between your employees and students through cross-cultural perspectives and experiences;
- Identify students as prospective employees among the students attached to your company; and
- Contribute inputs for our curriculum to reflect the changing demands of your industry
Exchange Programmes
Student Exchange
As part of our global outreach, Temasek Polytechnic has developed many exchange agreements with overseas institutions in Australia, France, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong, Mauritius, New Zealand, UK and USA. These agreements give our students the opportunity to spend one or two semesters at an overseas institution, for study or project work.
We welcome overseas students from our exchange institutions. Interested applicants should contact the international office or faculty at your home institution.
Please make your application through your institutional representatives and office. For further information about exchange opportunities, please contact: irhotline@tp.edu.sg.
Staff Exchange
Temasek Polytechnic conducts research, consultancy and staff exchange programmes with a number of institutions outside of Singapore. We also host lecturers on attachments from the ASEAN countries, conducted under the auspices of the Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI). The IAI aims to integrate new ASEAN member countries faster through skills development and education programmes.
