In June and July, university graduates around Singapore look ahead to their new lives and are ready to close the chapter on student life with commencement ceremonies. Each ceremony will be unique, with different speakers and pageantry, for instance, but all feature excited graduates, their families, and ceremonial maces. Benny Tan, an industrial designer, has created maces for four local universities, including NTU, SMU, SIM, and SUSS. He mentioned that his extensive portfolio helped him secure a teaching job at Temasek Polytechnic, where he later designed NTU's mace with a team.
