Module Overview

How do we formulate ideas into the design process? How do we creatively solve design problems? This module introduces students to basic art and design rules applied in design. Students will also learn skills essential to record and express their concepts and idea, and experience design critique and consultation during the module. In addition, it also introduces students to the design methodologies used by designers through a variety of design activities. Students must use their own initiative to solve design problems. This approach would engage students creatively both in thinking and doing to provide them a good and fundamental idea for design.

 

This module will be conducted within a duration of 22.5 hours.

 

What You'll Learn

At the end of the module, students will be able to:

 

  1. Be aware of basic art & design principles
  2. Exercise basic ideation skill
  3. Explore materials and techniques
  4. Explain the design process

 

Assessment Components

Students will be assessed based on the following:

 

  1. Group Project 
  2. Individual Portfolio 

 

Completion criteria

Students are required to:

 

  • Fulfill at least 67% of the attendance and
  • Obtain a pass mark of at least 50% upon completion of the module.
