Course Overview

The course provides basic knowledge and understanding of aviation legislation and human factors for technicians and engineers working in the Singapore aviation industry. It is also very relevant for students studying for their Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore SAR-66 equivalent modules for their aircraft maintenance licences.

 

Knowledge of this subject has a significant impact on the safety standards and responsibilities expected of the personnel working in the aviation industry and holders of aircraft maintenance licences.

 

 

Objectives

 

Students will be able to:

  • identify various rules and regulations governing the Singapore aviation industry.
  • explain that human factors are an area that influences how well they perform the tasks in terms of quality of the tasks, safety of all involved and ultimately the airworthiness of the aircraft the engineers maintain.
  • point out the contributing factors in maintenance-related accidents in relation to relevant human factors issues.

Entry Requirements

Applicants applying for modular units which are drawn from existing full diploma or post-diploma programmes will have the same minimum entry requirements as the full qualifications.

Continual Assessment 60 %

Semestral Examination 40%

 

 

Certification

 

Upon successful completion of the modular unit, students will be awarded a Statement of Result which can count towards the attainment of the Diploma in Engineering (Aerospace).
