Course Overview
This online course aims to provide learners with a good understanding of history and development of urban logistics and transportation through the following chapters and topics below:
- Learners are provided with an understanding of the definition and scope of Urban Logistics & Transportation, introduced to the URA City Master Plan, the history and evolution of Public Transport/LTA & Freight, LTA Land Transport Master Plan 2040 / Land Transport Digital Plan, and JTC's Industrial & Warehouse Planning.
- Learners are updated on MRT Infrastructure, Operations and Service; Bus Infrastructure, Operations and Service; Taxi & Ride Hailing Services – NTUC/Comfort, SMRT/STRIDE; Green Transport /Cycling, and the Public Transport Council's role in managing fares.
- Review of CBD freight, Challenges, Marina Bay Sands. Learners study Mall Logistics – Inbound/Outbound, Freight Infrastructure and Transport Challenges, and review Integrated Transport Hubs.
- Learners are presented with case studies of Changi Airport's Air Freight Hub/Handling, Cool Port; PSA & Jurong Port infrastructure, operations and services. They are given an understanding of Maritime Shipping – Transhipment, Bunkering / Multi-modalism, and harbour craft and coastal ferry operations.
- Learners have an understanding of FTA policies, Digital FTAs – ASEAN-China, ASEAN-EU, TPP, and learn the Digitalisation process – Portnet, TradeNet, Tradex - IMDA, as well as the CCN Cargo Community Network.
- Learners are able to review the growth of E-Commerce, Express & Courier Parcel Services. They become aware of SingPost's Mail Distribution & Pop Box Network, and the Pick & Parcel (IMDA) scheme.
- Learners gain an understanding of Digitalisation – Technology, Freight Solutions, Autonomous Vehicles, Electric Vehicles, as well as Sustainability – in particular, in the Food and Retail Logistics. They learn about trends in the Cold Chain & Pharmaceutical sectors, and an understanding of ASEAN Road Networks and Multi-modalism.
This online course is to be completed within 1 month from the date of successful course activation.

Entry Requirements
Applicants should have at least GCE ‘A’ level certificate and two years of working experience in the logistics and supply chain industry.
Those who do not meet the minimum educational requirements but have relevant working experience may be considered for entry to the Professional Certificate programme on a case-by-case basis. Similarly those who have higher educational qualifications but do not have relevant working experience in the sector may also be considered on a case-by-case basis.

This is a 100% e-learning, self-paced and self-directed course that runs on a PC/Laptop's web browser.
At the end of this course, you will:
- Understand the history and development of urban logistics and transportation, and the key differences that exist in the global approach.
- Gain insight into Singapore’s Transport Planning and Policy focusing on Infrastructure, Operations and Service for the main modes of transport.
- Gain insight into Singapore’s freight management in Singapore.
- Gain insight into the workings of Singapore as a Global Logistics Hub, focusing on Freight Management, using relevant Case Studies.
- Understand the mechanism of Free Trade Agreements & Supply Chains.
- Study challenges of Last Mile Distribution & Logistics based on several real cases.
- Explore future trends and directions in Urban Logistics and Transportation.
Assessment
On completing the online course and quiz, candidates can request for an online examination conducted by CILTS, via email at secretariat@cilt.org.sg.
The online examination consists of 20 MCQs to be completed in an hour. Result will be known immediately. For a repeat attempt - the cost is SGD50.00 per attempt, with no restriction on the number of repeat attempts.
