Course Overview

Temasek Polytechnic and the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) have come together to introduce a series of courses for (and not limited to) Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel (ATSEP) working for, or employed by CAAS, as well as for ATSEP from other countries and any other interested persons based in Singapore. 

Who Should Attend

This course is beneficial to engineering personnel from civil aviation administrations, service providers and maintenance organisations whose roles are to oversee and maintain CNS/ATM systems.

This 6-day program is designed to help participants who are new to the work of an ATSEP to understand his working environment:

 

  • Introduction to the air traffic services operational environment in which an ATSEP will support
  • Understand the basic concepts of Communication, Navigation & Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) Systems
  • Appreciate the international organisations and standards that apply to ATSEP & CNS/ATM Systems 
  • Knowledge on Human Factors that apply to the work of an ATSEP
  • Understand the maintenance and monitoring functions of an ATSEP
  • Introduction to Safety Management System

This 5-day programme is designed to equip participants who have attended the ATSEP Basic course and whose responsibilities are related to the navigation domain.

 

  • Equip ATSEP with knowledge related to the design, installation, operation, maintenance and repair of ground-based navigation systems
  • Equip ATSEP with knowledge of the concept and operation of satellite navigation systems
  • Equip ATSEP with knowledge of the concept and operation of aircraft navigation systems
  • Equip ATSEP with the knowledge of the concept of Performance-Based Navigation

This 4-day programme is designed to equip participants who have attended the ATSEP Basic course and whose responsibilities are related to the data communications domain.

 

  • Equip ATSEP with knowledge related to the design, installation, operation and maintenance of data communications systems.                                                                    
  • Equip ATSEP with knowledge of network technology.
  • Equip ATSEP with knowledge on network protocols, addressing and routing

 

Under CAAS regulations and international ICAO guidelines, it is mandatory for staff who specialize in data communications systems to be trained in this course before they progress to be trained on operational systems.

This 4-day programme is designed to equip participants who have attended the ATSEP Basic course and whose responsibilities are related to the data processing domain.

 

  • Equip ATSEP with knowledge related to the design, installation, operation, maintenance and repair of data processing systems.
  • Equip ATSEP with knowledge of flight data and surveillance data processing systems.
  • Equip ATSEP with the knowledge on air traffic control requirements, data process and flight data sets 

 

Under CAAS regulations and international ICAO guidelines, it is mandatory for staff who specialize in data processing systems to be trained on this course before they progress to be trained on operational systems.
