Course Overview

Have you ever felt a desire to help others but don’t know where to start? Have you found that you don’t know how to react to others in need? In our daily lives, the ability to attend to others can really count, especially in times of stress, when individuals often seek clarity and support from others around them.


You can play a crucial role in the lives of others around you. Build more positive relationships by developing the ability to lend a listening ear, and support others through difficult times through the use of basic counselling skills like asking questions, paraphrasing, and reflecting. 

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for participants with little or no background knowledge of counselling. It is catered for individuals who want to develop greater self-awareness, or want to be equipped with foundational skills as a people helper.

Day 1

  • Code of Ethics, Confidentiality 

  • Foundations as a Helper 

  • Invitational Skills & Opening Skills 

  • Using Questions 

  • Paraphrasing 

     

Day 2

  • Reflection of Feelings 

  • Reflection of Meanings 

  • Summarizing 

  • Termination 

     

Day 3

  • Understanding the use of genograms through case studies 

  • Introduction to counselling framework – PADI 

  • Putting it all together 

 

 

Certification

 

Participants who meet at least 75% of the required course attendance and attempt the assessment will be awarded the Certificate of Performance.
