IN COLLABORATION WITH
Course Overview
The Environmental Services Industry in Singapore comprises cleaning, pest control and waste management. The industry is responsible for keeping Singapore a clean and green garden city. It is made up of about 2000 organisations with a workforce exceeding 80,000. As Singapore continues to grow, the demand for environmental services will rise. With the adoption of technology and digital solutions, work will be enhanced. Employees will need to acquire new knowledge and skills to meet the complex and growing needs of the industry.
The [SCTP] Environmental Services Specialist is a 300-Hour programme that supports mid-career individuals in acquiring industry-relevant skills to pivot to a career in environmental services. Learners will be introduced to the relevant environmental standards, outcome-based contracting for environmental services, the application of robotics and automation to cleaning as well as gain an understanding of recycling, renewable energy and conducting energy audits. In addition to technical skills, students will also develop important managerial skills in customer management, workplace safety and the use of IOT dashboards to monitor cleaning performance.
The SCTP is developed in partnership with the Environmental Management Association of Singapore (EMAS) and industry partners. Learners will have the opportunity for On-the-Job (OJT) training at relevant companies. The programme offers job seekers comprehensive skills training and job-matching, leading to employment by facility owners or management companies. Learners upon completion of the SCTP, will earn partial fulfillments of Temasek Polytechnic’s Specialist Diploma in Environment & Water Technology as well as the Specialist Diploma in Environmental Technology & Energy Sustainability. Learners can then opt to further pursue formal qualifications. In addition, various subjects in the SCTP provide WSQ or industry certifications.
