Golden Moves From Our Golden Girl

A dancer. A dreamer. A horror-lover. We had a chance to chat with the Vice President of Temasek Polytechnic Dance Ensemble (TPDE) and this year’s CCA Gold Award winner, Patricia B. Maronilla. Seva. Our recent Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism Management graduate speaks on dance, life and where she will strut and spin to next.

On how it all started.
I was inspired by my older sister, who’s a dancer too. I had my first ballet class at the age of six and I’ve been dancing ever since!

On TP’s support for her passion.
I’m grateful to Ms Fayanne Tan, TPDE advisor, as well as the club’s resident dance instructors, for their unwavering support and all the opportunities they have provided to help me pursue my passion in dance. From external workshops to professional dance productions to various dance competitions, TPDE had given me so many avenues to pursue this passion of mine out of the classroom.

On her life, post-TP.
I’m working as an Assistant Producer with the Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) creative team. We’re in the midst of finalising a haunted house for the upcoming Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Singapore. Between auditioning the scare actors, managing the event’s marketing videos, as well as juggling several other RWS projects for Halloween, it’s been really fun – I enjoy doing what I do.

On her life’s passion.
Of course, I still dance! It’s a passion I don’t think I could ever put on hold. I perform with a local urban dance company, O School, and we have an annual affair called the O School Recital. Apart from that, I’m working with Ms Clarice Ng, one of TPDE’s resident modern dance instructors. Last year, I had the honour of being part of her production, the Royal Dance Off – and when I was asked to come on-board for the second edition this year, I simply had to say yes!
