Six junior students from the Diploma in Financial Business Informatics (Teo Xuan Ming, Teo Wei En, Peck Qi Long Bryan, Lee Chang Hwee, Brendan Khow Bo Ren and Shinta Karolina Bek) emerged as First Runner-Up at the Junior Achievement Company of the Year (JA COY) Competition 2018 held on 2 February 2019, at Nanyang Junior College. They also clinched the Best Presentation Award and the Best Trade Booth Award.

Through five months of preparation and training under the mentorship of their lecturer, Alfred Teng, and JA corporate volunteers, the team formed a company known as the Ecovators.  The Ecovators collaborated with the World Wide Fund (WWF) to raise awareness about WWF’s work in the area of recycling of plastic waste and urban farming. The team married their passion for both and developed a product called "Plantinum".  This is a ‘self-watering planter’ where the plant is allowed to grow and thrive within ‘pots’ made of recycled bottles.

As the First Runner-Up, the team will represent Singapore at the Asia Pacific Company of the Year Competition in the Philippines from 10 – 14 March 2019.
