Come November 28th and 30th, 9am to 5pm, Temasek Polytechnic (TP) students can take their first step to stand out from the crowd, at the TP Opportunity Fair (TPOF) 2019 Fringe Activity.

Activities ranging from a free makeover and professional photo-taking session (with limited spaces available for booking at bit.ly/tpofps) to a LinkedIn profile set-up walkthrough will be available for students to participate in. Campus radio station RadioActive will also be conducting giveaways, with 20 prizes up for grabs! Education and Career Guidance (ECG) counsellors will also be present to guide students on how to best prepare themselves before the career fair.

Regarding the purpose of the Fringe Activity, Ms Hilda Yong, an ECG counsellor at the Career Services Centre said: “We got feedback from companies that students don't know what to expect, how to approach exhibitors and how to network. Thus, we want to help students to be better prepared and make full use of the opportunity (the main TPOF event).”

If you are unavailable during the fringe activity, fret not, as you can book appointments separately with the ECG councillors at bit.ly/bookmyecg. With them, you can have personalised, in-depth discussions on how to take advantage of opportunities present at the main TPOF 2019 event!

The main TPOF 2019 event will be held on January 30th, 2019, from 10am to 4pm.
It will consist of a Career Fair, Further Education Talks and Industry Talks. SEAL points will be awarded when students visit the Career Fair.

With the largest number of employers exhibiting at the Career Fair, students have the chance to meet their choice employers and learn more about the various industries.

Bringing up the benefits of Career Fair at TPOF 2019, Ms Yong mentions: “Today's world is integrating very fast, there is more demand for cross disciplinary skills, thus a campus wide career fair will be very useful for the students.”

At the Further Education Talks, they can listen to staff from all six of the Autonomous Universities in Singapore to discover the available further education pathways. Additionally, during the Industry Talks, students can get fresh insights from esteemed industry leaders to learn more about the current job market and future of the industry.

The TPOF 2019 event provides students with a chance to – “Stand out. Start now.”
