More people tapped SkillsFuture programmes in 2024, amid stronger support for mid-career workers

Mid-career learner Vinoth s/o Nanda Kumaran, 41, was featured for being among the growing number of Singaporeans who used their SkillsFuture mid-career top-up to make a bold career switch, transitioning from logistics to data analytics.

In 2024, he decided to pursue his long-held interest in data analytics but struggled to secure a job with just a diploma in business engineering. Vinoth then used his credits to enrol in several SSG-supported courses – from acquiring his private-hire licence to completing data science courses and is currently pursuing a part-time degree in business analytics at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS).

Midway through his degree, he took a semester off to attend a three-month data analytics bootcamp at Temasek Polytechnic. After submitting 250 job applications over six months, he secured a contract role as a business intelligence developer at SUSS, which he continues alongside his studies.
