Overview

The Temasek Student Excellence Awards (TSEA) are awarded to students who have contributed significantly to Temasek Polytechnic in non-academic areas, including Arts, Leadership and Sports.

Nominations for the TSEA are currently closed. Please look out for the new nomination window in February/March 2021.

Nomination

  • Only TP CCAs registered with the Student Development & Alumni Affairs Department are eligible for the TSEA.
  • For Individual Merit Awards, advisors are to submit their nominations via the prescribed nomination form to the TSEA Secretariat at: tsea@tp.edu.sg. Only electronic submissions will be accepted. More details will be released to advisors upon the launch of nominations.
  • For Individual Higher Awards, Group/Team Awards, and Outstanding Coach/Instructor Award, nominations must be submitted by advisors via the official online forms. More details will be released to advisors upon the launch of nominations.
  • Only nominations submitted through the email account of TP staff will be accepted. Nominations sent from a nominee's email address are deemed as not supported by TP staff, and will hence not be accepted.
  • It is the advisors’ responsibility to verify all information, including the nominees’ SEAL records, before submitting their nominations. 

Selection

  • All forms must clearly indicate the nominated Award Category. However, the Selection Committee will make the final decision for the category that is most applicable.
  • Selection is based on a set of pre-determined criteria, which includes amongst other things, standard of achievement, attendance, level of contribution, scale and number of projects, and demonstration of leadership skills and sportsmanship.
  • The selection of nominees will be left to the Selection Committee, and the decision of the Committee is final. Neither direct communication nor appeals will be entertained.
     

Conditions
 

  • The award may be withdrawn from the recipient, should inaccurate facts or information be provided at the time of nomination.
  • The Polytechnic reserves the right not to award any of the awards if no suitable candidates are identified.

Individual Awards    

The Award

  • Certificate

Criteria


This is awarded to students who have been actively involved in their respective CCAs for the academic year and have met the following requirements:
 

  • Students of TP involved in TP-registered CCA groups
  • No Category 1 disciplinary record or serious academic-related offence
  • Maintained a good level of attendance/involvement for the year
  • Attained at least an "Excellent" grade in SEAL
  • Displayed exemplary artistic/sportsmanship/leadership and conduct in his/her CCA
  • Significantly contributed to the organisation of events/projects or led/trained students

Arts

  • Preferably represented the Polytechnic in high-profile external events and achieved commendable standards in performance for the year

Sports

  • Represented the Polytechnic in inter-tertiary competitions (at least 5 participating institutions) and achieved at least a silver medal in individual or team events for the year for POL-ITE or equivalent, or a bronze medal for IVP or National-level equivalent for the year

Leadership

  • Led and organised at least 2 significant high profile projects for the year that have impacted a wider community beyond his/her own student group.

The Award

Criteria

This is awarded to students who have been actively involved in their respective Sports CCAs for the academic year and have met the following requirements:
 

  • Students of TP involved in TP-registered CCA groups
  • No Category 1 disciplinary record or serious academic-related offence
  • Maintained a good level of attendance/involvement for the year
  • Represented the Polytechnic in sporting competitions for the year and achieved any of the following:

    1. A gold medal in POL-ITE or equivalent
    2. A bronze medal or better in IVP or equivalent
    3. A bronze medal or better in recognised national-level competitions

Criteria

This is only applicable to a final year student who has been actively involved in his/her CCA throughout the 3 years in the Polytechnic and has met the following requirements:
 

  • Students of TP involved in TP-registered CCA groups
  • No Category 1 disciplinary record or serious academic-related offence
  • Maintained a good level of attendance/involvement for the year
  • Attained at least an "Excellent" grade in SEAL
  • Displayed exemplary artistic/sportsmanship/leadership and conduct in his/her CCA
  • Significantly contributed to the organisation of events/projects or led/trained students
  • Fulfilled at least one of the following requirements:
    • Preferably represented the Polytechnic in high-profile external events and achieved commendable standards in performance for the year or,
    • Represented the Polytechnic in inter-tertiary competitions (at least 5 participating institutions) and achieved at least a gold medal in individual or team events for the year for POL-ITE or equivalent, or a bronze medal for IVP or National-level equivalent for the year or, 
    • Led and organised at least 2 significant high profile projects for the year.
  • Brought honour and contributed to the Polytechnic
  • Been a recipient of a CCA Merit Award

Criteria

This is only applicable to an artist who has been actively involved in his/her CCA for the academic year and has met the following requirements:
 

  • Students of TP involved in TP-registered CCA groups
  • No Category 1 disciplinary record or serious academic-related offence
  • Maintained a good level of attendance/involvement for the year
  • Attained at least an "Excellent" grade in SEAL
  • Displayed exemplary artistic skill and conduct in his/her CCA
  • Significantly contributed to the organisation of events/projects or led/trained students
  • Preferably represented the Polytechnic in high-profile external events and achieved commendable standards in performance for the year

This is only applicable to a sportsperson who has been actively involved in his/her CCA for the academic year and has met the following requirements:
 

  • Students of TP involved in TP-registered CCA groups
  • No Category 1 disciplinary record or serious academic-related offence
  • Maintained a good level of attendance/involvement for the year
  • Attained at least an "Excellent" grade in SEAL
  • Displayed exemplary sportsmanship and conduct in his/her CCA
  • Significantly contributed to the organisation of events/projects or led/trained students
  • Represented the Polytechnic in inter-tertiary competitions (at least 5 participating institutions) and achieved at least a gold medal in individual or team events for the year for POL-ITE or equivalent, or a bronze medal for IVP or National-level equivalent for the year.

  • Attained at least an "Excellent" grade in SEAL
  • Displayed exemplary leadership and conduct in his/her CCA
  • Significantly contributed to the organisation of events/projects or led/trained students
  • Led and organised at least 2 significant high profile projects for the year that have impacted a wider community beyond his/her own group.

This is awarded to students of outstanding character, who exemplify key values such as integrity, respect, responsibility, resilience, compassion and have met the following requirements:

Criteria

This is awarded to entrepreneurial students and fresh graduates* whose businesses exhibit excellent growth or high potential for growth and scalability. The students/graduates must also meet the following requirements:
 

  • Articulate clear visions and missions for the businesses
  • Demonstrate great commitment to develop and scale the businesses
  • Manage academic studies while being involved in the entrepreneurial pursuits
  • Have no Category 1 disciplinary record or serious academic-related offence


* “Fresh graduates” refer to graduates who graduated not more than 1 year ago

Criteria

This is awarded to students who have demonstrated commitment to advance the welfare of their community at large and/or who have made significant contributions to this community (N/B: Beneficiaries may be within or external to TP). Awardees should also have met the following requirements:

Criteria

This is awarded to students who have demonstrated a high level of commitment to supporting TP activities and have made significant contributions to the wider TP community. Awardees should also have met the following requirements:
 

  • Students of TP

Group/Team Awards

The Award

Criteria
This is only applicable to an arts group that has:
 

  • Preferably represented the Polytechnic in a high-profile external event
  • Shown evidence of high artistic merit during the year and contributed to the vibrancy of campus life
  • Displayed excellent team spirit

The Award

Criteria
This is only applicable to a sports team that has:
 

  • Represented the Polytechnic in an inter-tertiary competition (at least 5 participating institutions) for the year
  • Attained 1st position for the year
  • Displayed excellent sportsmanship and team spirit

The Award:

Criteria
This is applicable to the respective Studies Clubs of the six Schools. The student committee must meet the following requirements:
 

  • Contributed in an impactful way to its School as well as the wider community
  • Supported TP campus vibrancy through community service/arts/sports/adventure
  • Demonstrated collaborative spirit with other Studies Clubs
  • Demonstrated good event management skills
  • Demonstrated proper management of the organisation

Criteria

The TSEA Secretariat will inform advisors of both successful and unsuccessful nominees. 

Is external involvement considered?

Is external involvement considered?

No, only TP events will be considered. In addition, only TP-registered CCAs are eligible for the awards, unless specified in the criteria.

Can students be nominated for both CCA Merit (Arts) & CCA Merit (Leadership)?

Yes, provided the student meets the eligibility criteria.

How do you judge the scale of an event? Is an organiser of an Interest Group BBQ equivalent to an organiser of a concert?

Some considerations in judging the scale of events include the number of participants, the profile of the invited guests, the impact of the event and the magnitude of the event, i.e. poly-wide, nation-wide, diploma-wide, class.

Can students submit the nomination form themselves?

No, only CCA advisors can submit the nominations via the prescribed nomination forms. Those submitted directly by the nominees are deemed as not supported by TP staff, and will hence not be accepted.
