Borrow, Renew or Reserve Material

The library has self-check machines at level 2 for patrons to self-borrow library materials.

You will need to enter your login ID and PIN before you start.

To get a new pin, Sign in to your library account. Under Personal Details, select Update PIN Code. Key in 4 to 8 numeric digits and click Save. Alternatively, approach the Loans Counter for assistance.

Pro-tip: place the book spine on the v-shaped crevice.

Loans of books, media items and journals are automatically renewed three days before the due date. Some exclusions apply: Restricted loan items, hourly loan items and items with reservations may not be renewed. If you have reached the maximum number of renewals and the item is reservation-free, you can request for a new loan cycle at the Loans Counter.

You can place online reservations via LibSearch. When the items are ready for collection, you will be notified via email. Collect the items at the Reservation Pick-Up Locker located outside the library by scanning the QR code included in the notification email.

Some items cannot be reserved; check the borrowing privileges page for details. For books with multiple reservations, the loan period is shortened to seven days.

Use either the return kiosk or book drop outside the Library to return borrowed materials.

Patrons accept responsibility for returning material on or before the due date and for responding promptly to recall notices.

Patrons will receive courtesy notices informing them to return Library items promptly. Fines for overdue items will start right after the due date has passed. Patrons with outstanding loans and overdue fines will also receive reminder emails on a monthly basis. Patrons are responsible for returning items on time whether or not courtesy notices are received.

Fines are imposed on overdue loans. Payment can be made via the following channels:

·     NETS, FlashPay, CashCard or PayLah! at the Loans Counter.

·     For AXS online payment method, please email libloan@tp.edu.sg

Report any damaged Library materials before borrowing. Do not attempt to remedy the defects. Patrons will be held responsible for returning damaged materials.

Report the loss of Library materials immediately. Charges for loss of borrowed items include: replacement cost of item; handling fee of $10 per item (non-refundable); GST and accumulating overdue charges if applicable, as calculated from the due date to the payment date.

If a lost item is subsequently found and returned to the Library before payment of charges, normal rates of fines will apply. We will offset the replacement cost of item and handling fee. Strictly no refund will be given if a lost item is found and returned to the Library after the payment of charges. If the lost item is one of a set or a series, the borrower will be required to replace the whole set or series.

Report the loss to the Loans Counter or email to libloan@tp.edu.sg immediately. Library will deactivate your card and block your borrowing privileges. Once you receive a new card, you may approach the counter to unblock your library account.

Report loss of personal belongings in the Library to the Loans Counter. You will be informed if an item that matches your description is found. Note that you are responsible for your belongings at all times, and should not leave your personal belongings unattended.
