How to Become a Security Officer in 4 Steps

Step 1: Sign Up for a Provisional Security Officer Licence

 

Before signing up for SII courses, please register for a provisional security officer licence from the webpage here: https://licence1.business.gov.sg/web/frontier/home (search for keyword “security officer” in the search bar and add to selection). For a step-by-step guide on the licence application, refer to this link.

 

A formal notice of the outcome will be mailed after you have successfully applied and made payment. While waiting, you may proceed to step 2.  

Step 2: Sign up for SII 3 Basic Security Licensing Modules

 

After you have registered, please sign up for the 3 security BLUs through SII website via https://www.tp.edu.sg/sii (click on course application).

To complete the training within 1.5 weeks, please select our courses in either of these orders.

 

Option 1

 

1. Guard and Patrol (Provide Guard and Patrol Services) [2 days training + 1-day assessment]

  1. e.g. [29  - 30 Jun Training and Assessment on 1 Jul (AM)] 

2. Threat Observation (Recognise Terrorist Threats) [2 days of training + 1-day assessment]
e.g. [2 - 3 Jul Training and Assessment on 4 Jul (AM)]

3. Incident Response (Handle Security Incidents and Services) [3 of days training & assessment]
e.g. [6  - 7 Jul Training & 8 Jul Training (AM) and Assessment (PM)]  

Option 2

 

1. Incident Response (Handle Security Incidents and Services) [3 of days training & assessment]

e.g. [29  - 30 Jun Training & 1 Jul Training (AM) and Assessment (PM)] 

2. Threat Observation (Recognise Terrorist Threats) [2 days of training + 1-day assessment]
e.g. [2 – 3  Jul Training and 4 Jul Assessment (AM)]

3. Guard and Patrol (Provide Guard and Patrol Services) [2 days training + 1-day assessment]
e.g. [6  - 7 Jul Training and Assessment on 8 Jul (AM)] 

Note:

 

Though you are free to choose the 2 options, you are encouraged to take up Provide Guard and Patrol Servcies before Handle Security Incident and Services.

 

The accelerated Recognise Terrorist Threats (12 hours training on the 1st day & 4 hours training on 2nd day morning and assessment on 2nd day afternoon) is offered every 3rd week of the month.

Threat Observation (Recognise Terrorist Threats) [Day 1: 12 hrs and Day 2: 4 hrs of training & assessment]

e.g. [23 Jul – 24 Jul Training (AM) and 24 Jul Assessment (PM)]

Step 3: Apply for Security ID Card

 

About 2 weeks after the successful completion of 3 modules, the trainee may apply for the Security ID card (Log-in to the LicenceOne website to check if the training status is updated)

 

To apply for the Security ID card, visit the Union for Security Employees (USE) Customer Service Centre. The processing fee is $22.50 (with GST). Details of the USE are as follows:
