Course Overview

This subject covers the essential aspects of the work involved in criminal procedure from the perspective of the prosecution and the defence. Students will also gain knowledge in the application of  the provisions of the Evidence Act applicable in criminal matters. 

 

 

Objectives

 

The primary objective of this subject is to provide students with a working knowledge of criminal procedure as provided for in the Criminal Procedure Code 2010 and the Evidence Act (Cap 97) and of the administration of criminal justice generally so as to enable the student to assist a Deputy Public Prosecutor or a defence lawyer effectively in criminal matters.

Entry Requirements

Applicants applying for modular units which are drawn from existing full diploma or post-diploma programmes will have the same minimum entry requirements as the full qualifications.

Certification

 

Upon successful completion of the modular unit, students will be awarded a Statement of Result which can count towards the attainment of the Diploma in Legal Executive Studies.
