Course Overview

This subject covers relevant skills and knowledge in sustainable and innovative building materials encompassing state-of-the-art processes and technologies for using materials in raw, intermediates and finished forms. The subject will also focus on the properties and performance attributes of alternative, eco-friendly building materials, including an in-depth study of the carbon footprint and lifecycle assessment.

Entry Requirements

Applicants applying for modular units which are drawn from existing full diploma or post-diploma programmes will have the same minimum entry requirements as the full qualifications.

What You'll Learn

Upon graduating from the course, graduates should be able to:

 

  1. Comprehend the systems approach to appreciate the role of design in integrating and restoring the natural ecosystem as an integral part of the built environment;
  2. Acquire knowledge and skillsets to implement sustainable considerations in the design and operation of green buildings in alignment with prevailing Green Mark criteria;
  3. Value waste reduction through recycling, reuse, recovery, and life cycle analysis and develops an understanding of the properties and performance attributes of alternative, eco-friendly building materials

Upon successful completion of the modular unit, students will be issued the Statement of Result which can count towards the attainment of the Specialist Diploma in Sustainable Built Environment.
