Course Overview

This course will equip participants with introductory-level Japanese language skills such as pronunciation, greetings, self-introduction, expressing numbers, countries and nationalities.

Who Should Attend

Participants with no prior knowledge in the Japanese language and who are keen to learn the Japanese language at the introductory level.

What You'll Learn

At the end of this course, you will be able to:

Pronounce Roomaji (Romanised) characters
Express numbers in Japanese
Communicate using basic Japanese greetings and expressions
Give self-introduction in Japanese

Mode of Assessment

Quizzes – measure participants’ understanding of key concepts and application of concepts learnt for each topic

Sanae Shigeta

Sanae Shigeta has many years of experience working as a language teacher before she joined Temasek Polytechnic as a lecturer in 2001. Being an experienced Japanese language teacher for over 15 years, foreign language pedagogy is her main area of specialisation. Sanae has a keen interest in cultural diversity and has taught subjects on culture, and had organised study trips to Japan for students to better understand Japanese culture.
