Course Overview

This bundle of Micro-Learning Courses (MLC) introduces learners to the various types of fish diseases, mode of disease transmission, identifying and recognizing diseased fish, and methods for diagnosing fish diseases. It also covers disease prevention and control including vaccination. It also describes the importance of broodstock management in aquaculture species and factors affecting breeding success.

The bundle consists of the following MLC:

a. Basic Fish Microbiology (6 hrs)

b. Introduction to Fish Diseases (2 hrs)

c. Fish Infectious Diseases 1 (4 hrs)

d. Fish Infectious Diseases 2 (4 hrs)

e. Non-infectious and Zoonotic Diseases (4 hrs)

f. Diagnostic Techniques for fish diseases (4 hrs)

g. Fish Disease prevention and control (6 hrs)

h. Breeding Techniques and Broodstock Management (4 hrs)

Who Should Attend

Participants who are keen to learn more about the concepts and activities involved in fish care and husbandry in aquaculture farms, especially junior workers in this industry.

What You'll Learn

Upon completing these courses, you will be able to:

Explain the general concepts of fish diseases.
Explain the effects of various types of pathogens on fish
Relate the effects of common pathogens (bacteria, virus, protozoa, parasites) to fish health.
Describe the methods for diseases diagnosis in fish
Explain the effects of physical and biological factors on broodstock management

Mode of Assessment

Quizzes and reflections – measure participants' understanding of key concepts and application of concepts learnt for each topic.
