Tan Kah Kee Young Inventors’ Award

Realising that the elderly with poor eyesight may have difficulty reading the expiry date on the plastic tags on bread loaves, 3 students from BZE demonstrated their creativity by inventing an expiry tag made with gelatin powder, that feels smooth to the touch, but which turns bumpy after 3 days, indicating that the bread has expired.

Their ingenious project, called the “Bumpy Timebomb”, won a Commendation award at the annual TKK Young Inventors’ Award Competition 2022.
