Thor: Ragnarok hammers in free haircuts and huge turnouts

The third Thunder God movie, Thor: Ragnarok landed in Temasek Polytechnic (TP) on Oct 25, by way of giving complimentary haircuts to TP students at the Triangular Gardens.

Besides dishing out tight cuts, there was also an online and on-air contest as part of the collaboration between Media Biz Radio and Walt Disney Company (Singapore) to promote the new movie which hits the theatres on Oct 26.

17-year-old Diploma of Mechatronics student, Asyraaf, said that the haircuts were popular because “it was free and had a neat and short look to it that could be taken care of easily.”

The die-hard Marvel fan said that he would definitely be watching the new sequel once it was released in Singapore.

However, for Shannon Lim, a Diploma in Biotechnology student, getting his hair cut had nothing to do with the brand name or promotions. He said: “My mother (actually) told me to get a haircut because it’s pretty long and looks very disheveled.”

After getting their haircuts, students could participate in the online and on-air contests, giving themselves a chance to win Thor and Hela hampers worth 400 dollars.

To participate, students had to perform their best impression of Thor or Hela and caption it with why they love the character on Instagram. Alternatively, they could tune in to MediaBiz Radio, listen out for a cue to call in and be the first to win the merchandise.
