Course Overview

This training programme will help learners develop the skills and knowledge required to be an effective coach for workplace learning. Workplace coaches attending will learn how to use effective coaching methods to engage employees to identify performance gaps, address learning barriers and employ effective learning strategies to reach for optimum performance.

Who Should Attend

Managers, Supervisors, Team Leaders, Trainers, Coaches, Mentors and Programme Managers involved in Work-Study Programmes who aspire to be effective workplace learning coaches and help enhance skills and knowledge of employees.

What You'll Learn

What are the key learning outcomes?

Identify objectives of workplace coaching
Develop a workplace coaching plan
Conduct coaching using cognitive apprenticeship tools drawn from established European models as well as using other effective coaching approaches
Identify the roles and responsibilities of workplace coaches and prepare a safe space for coaching
Demonstrate effective communication and feedback techniques when coaching
Manage challenges in delivering workplace coaching
Adjust workplace coaching strategies and learning solutions according to needs of learners

Assessment

Class participation and Coaching Plan presentation

Certification

Participants will be issued with an e-Certificate of Performance upon meeting 75% of the required course attendance and completion of the assessment. Issuance of e-Certificate will be emailed out 1 month upon course completion to your Email Account.

Lecturer/Trainer Profile

Ms Sue Lou
MA; BA

Prior to joining National Centre of Excellence for Workplace Learning (NACE@TP) as a Senior Consultant, Sue served as Consultant at the Digital Business Transformation Centre and Senior Lecturer at School of Business, Temasek Polytechnic.

Sue’s main expertise is in marketing and communications. She aptly applied several decades of her business knowledge and skills to her academic career with Temasek Polytechnic in teaching and helming as Course Chair to Marketing, and Communications & Media Management diplomas. Sue enjoyed tremendously her creative and management portfolios spanning media, MICE, corporate affairs, investor relations, to partnership development, in diverse business entities ranging from startups, SMEs, statutory boards, social enterprises to global corporations.

Sue is a Certified Career Practitioner with Workforce Singapore and facilitates Workplace Learning courses at NACE@TP. With her vast academic and industry experience, she is in good stead to help clients build workplace competencies through effective learning facilitations, relevant advisory and consultancy project engagements.

Mr Trevor De Silva
MBA; BSc.(Hotel, Restaurant & Travel Administration)

Trevor is the Senior Consultant at the National Centre of Excellence for Workplace Learning (NACE@TP) at the Temasek SkillsFuture Academy in Temasek Polytechnic.

He has worked in many fields of the hospitality industry. His main expertise is in Club & Resort Management, especially in the field of Sales & Marketing. He started his career at the Shangri-La Hotel, where he held multiple roles in Food and Beverage, as well as the Sales and Marketing division. Trevor has accumulated several decades of experience in areas within the hospitality industry; having held the position of the General Manager at Republic of Singapore Yacht Club (RSYC) before he joined Temasek Polytechnic as a lecturer in the Leisure & Events Management diploma.

At NACE@TP, Trevor conducts Workplace Learning courses that help participants build their competencies in this area. He is also actively involved in consultancy projects aimed at helping companies boost their capability in workplace learning.
