Course Overview

The aim of this course is to equip students with the basic knowledge of electron theory, static electricity, electrical terminologies, basic electrical components, magnetism, electricity generation, motors, transformers and filters. Students are also provided with the basic analytical skills to solve electrical problems.

 

 

Objectives

 

This course provides the students with broad-based knowledge of electrical theories so that they will have a good grasp of the fundamentals of electricity. Topics covered include electron theory, voltage and current sources, different circuit concepts, components, devices and also electrical machines.

Entry Requirements

Applicants applying for modular units which are drawn from existing full diploma or post-diploma programmes will have the same minimum entry requirements as the full qualifications.

Modes of Assessment

 

Continual Assessment 60 %

Semestral Examination 40%

 

 

Certification

 

Upon successful completion of the modular unit, students will be awarded a Statement of Result which can count towards the attainment of the Diploma in Engineering (Aerospace).
