Course Overview

This course introduces the principles of lean tools and techniques to eliminate waste, manage inventory and improve product flow in a manufacturing organisation. Key concepts such as 6S, just-in-time (JIT), and process management prepare graduates to work effectively in a manufacturing environment.

 

 

Objectives

 

Students should be able to:

  • understand the principles of lean processes and how they can add value to the operation of an organisation.
  • apply lean tools and techniques used by organisations in establishing efficient manufacturing processes leading to higher product quality and productivity.

Entry Requirements

Applicants applying for modular units which are drawn from existing full diploma or post-diploma programmes will have the same minimum entry requirements as the full qualifications.

Certification

 

Upon successful completion of the modular unit, students will be awarded a Statement of Result which can count towards the attainment of the Diploma in Engineering (Aerospace).
