Course Overview

This course introduces students to the practice of behavioural insights. Students will be taught in:

 

  • Relevant areas in psychological research that can be applied in nudging behaviours, particularly in the areas of judgment & decision making, social influences & compliance, and persuasion.
     
  • How to systematically apply theoretical psychological knowledge to identify appropriate intervention and implementation options that can be used to nudge or influence behaviours in wide-ranging domain areas such as social, health, education, sustainability or consumer behaviours.

Entry Requirements

Applicants applying for modular units which are drawn from existing full diploma or post-diploma programmes will have the same minimum entry requirements as the full qualifications.

What You'll Learn

  • Understand the major frameworks in the field of human judgment and decision-making
  • Understand the psychological theories in nudging (e.g., heuristics, social norms, persuasive messaging, behavioral change wheel etc.)
  • Apply psychological theories to develop solutions through Behavioral Insights approaches

Certification

 

Upon successful completion of the modular unit, students will be awarded a Statement of Result which can count towards the attainment of the Specialist Diploma in Applied Psychology (Behavioural Insights).
