Course Overview

The aims of this subject are to equip students with the knowledge of the six sigma concept, DMAIC methods, best practices, and applications in quality and process improvement.

 

This subject introduces Six Sigma concepts that help to improve bottom-line performance and provide a competitive advantage from quality and process improvement. The DMAIC (define, measure, analyze, improve, control) methods and different circumstances which require the use of each method will be covered.

Entry Requirements

Applicants applying for modular units which are drawn from existing full diploma or post-diploma programmes will have the same minimum entry requirements as the full qualifications.

What You'll Learn

  1. Describe the goals, objectives and phases of the six sigma methodology.
  2. Define the fundamental problem of capturing the voice of customers.
  3. Apply Measure methods to describe qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
  4. Apply Analyze methods to identify opportunities for improvements.
  5. Apply Improve methods to identify root causes and suitable solutions.
  6. Apply Control methods to ensure the solutions sustainable.

  • Continual Assessment 100 %

 

 

Certification

 

Upon successful completion of the modular unit, students will be awarded a Statement of Result which can count towards the attainment of the Diploma in Engineering (Operations & Systems Management).
