Course Overview

The bundle of Micro-Learning Courses (MLC) covers the concepts and principles of water quality management and the effects of environment and water quality on fish care and health. It also covers techniques for water quality monitoring and treatment in recirculating aquaculture systems, as well as sustainable aquaculture.

The bundle consists of the following MLC:

a. Water Quality Management : Water Quality Monitoring (5 hrs)

b. Water Quality Management : Solid Waste Management (3 hrs)

c. Fluid flow, pumps and valves (4 hrs)

d. Flow meters and solid removal (4 hrs)

e. Biofiltration and Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) (4 hrs)

f. New Technologies in Water Management (3 hrs)

g. Water Quality Tests (3 hrs)

h. Sustainable Aquaculture (3 hrs)

i. Aquaculture Concerns (11 hrs)

Who Should Attend

Participants who are keen to learn the knowledge and skills on water quality and water treatment in aquaculture systems, as well the system engineering concepts. These include aquaculture workers and those in engineering support for the aquaculture industry.

What You'll Learn

Upon completing these courses, you will be able to:

Describe and explain the water quality tests
Understand mass and energy balances in fluid transportation, and the piping system
Explain sedimentation and filtration processes to remove suspended solids.
Understand biofiltration and recirculating aquaculture system
Explain the basic requirements for a sustainable aquaculture

Mode of Assessment

Quizzes, reflections, assignments – measure participants’ understanding of key concepts and application of concepts learnt for each topic.
