Course Overview

Are you a manager, data analyst or business analyst looking to deepen your skills in data analysis? Or do you handle data regularly and seek to better understand how to derive insights from them? This course will greatly enhance your technical capabilities in managing data, which is a versatile skillset across various industries.

 

Being the first Specialist Diploma in Singapore to meet the increasing demand for well-trained data professionals, we have more than 1000 graduates since it was first launched.

 

In this course, you will be equipped with the knowledge and skills in statistics, application of business data analysis tools and methods to effectively analyse results from data. You will learn how to apply data analysis and visualisation to improve an organisation’s performance and business intelligence.

Application/Entry Requirement    

Minimum Entry Requirements

 

A Polytechnic Diploma or ITE Technical Diploma / Technical Engineer Diploma / Work-Learn Technical Diploma or equivalent

 

OR A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent

 

OR A Post-Secondary Certificate with at least 3 Years of relevant working experience

 

Applicants who are Singaporean citizens or Permanent Residents (PR) can utilise their SkillsFuture Credits to enrol in the new diploma eligibility qualification programme called the "Data Analytics Specialist Diploma Qualification Programme." This programme is a collaborative effort between Accenture Academy and Temasek Polytechnic (TP). Upon successful completion of the qualification programme, learners will earn credits that can be applied towards waiving the Minimum Entry Requirement (MER) for the stackable modular course, Business Intelligence Fundamentals. This provides learners the option to stack their modular course towards achieving a corresponding full-qualification course. Visit here to learn more.

This course is targeted at diploma graduates and Professionals, Managers and Executives (PMEs) who are keen to enter the field of Business Analytics.

What You'll Learn

To be awarded the Specialist Diploma, participants are required to complete a total of 2 Post-Diploma Certificates (PDCs). A certificate will be issued upon successful completion of each PDC.

CBA1C07 Business Intelligence Fundamentals

This subject introduces students to a basic understanding of statistics and the application of business data analysis tools and techniques to visualise, analyse and interpret the results from these data. Students will learn essential descriptive data measures and data visualisation for describing data using tools such as Microsoft Excel and Power BI.

CBA1C08 Business Intelligence Project

This subject introduces students to the concepts and techniques of turning raw data from various sources into information to help organisations better manage their performance. Students will learn to integrate data, use relevant techniques to analyse data, and apply principles of data visualisation to increase the business intelligence quotient of an organisation. Students will learn how to present the analysis using data visualisation tools such as Power BI and Tableau.

CBA1C09 Data Analytics for Business Insights

In this subject, students will learn data analytics techniques and gain hands-on experience in using appropriate data analytics tools and software. It provides opportunities for students to integrate and apply the data mining knowledge and skills acquired to make data-driven decisions in specific business domains such as Customer Analytics and Marketing Analytics.

CBA1C10 Social Media Analytics

This subject introduces students to the use of unstructured social media text from various business domains to develop actionable insights for better business decision-making. Students will acquire knowledge and skills in text analytics to perform appropriate information retrieval to spot trends and sentiments expressed in unstructured text and social media platforms.

To be a full-fledged data scientist you will need to progress after completing these specialist diploma courses to take up advanced university courses.

Based on the Singapore Skills Framework Job Roles (ICT), graduates of both programmes will be able to take on similar job roles as Data Analyst / Senior Data Analyst, Business Analyst / Senior Business Analyst. You would have expanded capabilities in data mining if you take up the Specialist Diploma in Business Analytics; and in predictive modelling if you take up the Specialist Diploma in Data Science for Business.
