Course Overview

This course introduces interior design practitioners to the fundamentals of effective and sustainable lighting design for interior design projects, with a focus on energy efficiency, responsible material interaction, and human well-being. Participants will examine how light interacts with materials, finishes, and reflections to shape atmosphere and function, while learning to interpret and apply lighting specifications that support environmental performance and sustainable outcomes. Through guided exercises, case examples and project-based activities, they will address common misconceptions, strengthen communication with lighting professionals, and develop the skills to visualise and specify lighting layouts that support both design intent and practical outcomes in small residential projects.
