Course Overview

This course empowers professionals with strategic storytelling, conflict resolution, and wellness-focused communication skills. It focuses on written communication, building a foundation of storytelling and persuasive techniques, verbal communication, and integrating models like GROW, STAR, and Nonviolent Communication (NVC) to handle conflicts and promote workplace wellness.

What You'll Learn

Day 1: Written Communication for Stakeholder Engagement

  1. Craft Clear, Engaging Written Narratives:
    • Learn how to apply the Story Mix technique (balancing logic, emotion, and data) to develop stakeholder communications that resonate across technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Master intentional vocabulary to enhance clarity, tone, and engagement in written communication.
  2. Use the Inverted Pyramid Structure to Prioritize Key Messages:
    • Develop the ability to structure reports, emails, and proposals using the Inverted Pyramid, ensuring the most critical information is delivered first to capture attention and maintain focus.
  3. Enhance Written Communication Through Decluttering:
    • Learn how to declutter writing by removing unnecessary jargon and complexity, making your messages concise, clear, and impactful.
  4. Apply Persuasion Principles to Written Conflict Resolution:
    • Use Cialdini’s Elements of Persuasion (Reciprocity, Authority, Social Proof) to craft compelling written communications that de-escalate conflicts and foster collaboration.
  5. Promote Workplace Wellness Through Written Narratives:
    • Understand how to write empathetic, solution-oriented messages that address conflicts and promote a positive, wellness-focused work environment.

 

Day 2: Verbal Communication for Stakeholder Engagement

  1. Deliver Persuasive Verbal Stories Using Story Mix and SHARP:
    • Build on Day 1’s written frameworks and apply the Story Mix technique in verbal presentations, utilizing SHARP (Specifics, Humor, Analogies, References, and Pictures) to create memorable, impactful stories during meetings or presentations.
  2. Frame Verbal Messages for Maximum Impact and Engagement:
    • Learn how to frame verbal communication in stakeholder discussions, controlling perception and driving conversations toward desired outcomes.
  3. Utilize Cialdini’s Persuasion and Pre-Suasion Techniques in Speech:
    • Apply Cialdini’s elements of persuasion (Authority, Liking, Scarcity) and Pre-Suasion strategies in verbal negotiations to create a positive environment and build rapport before engaging in critical discussions.
  4. Resolve Conflicts with Verbal Communication Using the GROW, STAR, and NVC Models:
    • Integrate the GROW Model (Goal, Reality, Options, Will) to guide conflict resolution conversations, leading stakeholders to clear, actionable solutions.
    • Use the STAR Model (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure feedback and conflict discussions in a constructive manner.
    • Employ Nonviolent Communication (NVC) to foster empathetic, collaborative conversations, focusing on observation, emotion, need, and request.
  5. Promote Workplace Wellness Through Empathetic Verbal Communication:
    • Use storytelling and empathetic verbal communication techniques to de-escalate conflicts, foster a positive workplace culture, and promote mental wellness and team collaboration.

Certification

 

Participants who meet at least 75% of the required course attendance and attempt the assessment will be awarded the Certificate of Completion.
