Course Overview

The course on Technology in Dispute Resolution is designed to equip learners with introductory knowledge and practical skills in leveraging technology for effective dispute management and resolution in various legal contexts.

Combining theoretical understanding of regulatory and ethical considerations in dispute resolution and practical demonstrations of tools relating to online filing and repository systems used in the legal processes (such as elitigation, eDiscovery, document management integrated case management systems, Community Justice and Tribunals System).

Paralegals and allied legal practitioners working in the legal industry with an interest and focus on technology and dispute resolution.

What You'll Learn

Understanding regulatory and ethical considerations in Singapore in relation to legal technology in dispute resolution.
Practical demonstration of tools used in the legal process, such as online filing and repository systems, evidence management and e-discovery, and online dispute resolution systems.
Identify the role of technology in modern dispute resolution.
Understand the benefits and challenges of technology in legal practice.
Understand the regulatory and ethical considerations.
Recognise and gain exposure to online filing and repository systems.
Explain the benefits of managing evidence electronically (strategic advantages, enhanced capabilities, and cost advantages).

eLitigation

Understand the background of the mandated e-filing system in Singapore.
Illustrate the various uses of the e-filing system, eLitigation.
Experiment with practical case studies and exercises in the eLitigation digital environment.
Use the features of the eLitigation digital environment (i.e., administrator functions, managing a law firm account and user profiles, user profiles, and functionalities related to civil procedure, family, and probate matters).

Certification

Participants who meet at least 75% of the required course attendance and pass the assessment will be awarded a Certificate of Completion.
