To be eligible for consideration for admission, applicants must obtain 26 points or better for the net ELR2B2 aggregate score (i.e. English Language, 2 relevant subjects and best 2 other subjects, including CCA Bonus Points) and meet the minimum entry requirements of this course. CCA cannot be used to meet the minimum entry requirements.

This module provides students with an understanding of core accounting principles from the preparation of accounting entries to the financial statements of businesses. In addition to gaining practical knowledge of accounting, students will also learn to perform financial ratio analysis to draw critical insights, assess business performance and make impactful recommendations to management for improvement.

BBS1001 Business Psychology & Management

This subject introduces foundational management functions and how these practices are undergirded by psychology concepts and principles. It explores how fundamental psychology principles such as motivation, group dynamics, and leadership can provide insights into human behaviours and factors that should inform management practices relating to planning, organising, leading and controlling. It will highlight the importance of interpersonal and & teamwork skills in a business environment.

This subject provides an overview of how digitalisation and business technology impact the future of work and businesses. It also encompasses the utilisation of digital information and applications to facilitate decision making and problem solving through data analysis and visualisation.

BEC1007 Business Economics

This subject covers the fundamental principles of economics for understanding how individuals and firms make decisions. It will focus on the various aspects of the product market: demand and supply, elasticity, market competition and product differentiation. It also includes an overview of macroeconomic indicators, the government’s macroeconomic objectives and policy tools.

BLO1001 Statistics for Business

The subject provides the statistical tools for business decision making. Students will learn how to organise and analyse data, as well as interpret results for decision-making in the business context. These foundational statistical methods aim to equip students with the necessary skills to learn and perform data analytic in a data-driven society.

BMK1005 Marketing Fundamentals

Generating revenue and leads for opportunity is the lifeblood and core critical function for all businesses. This subject covers the basic concepts and practices of the modern marketing process by leveraging on the understanding of consumer behaviour, market segmentation, target marketing, positioning and marketing mix.

This is an introductory subject in finance and management accounting. This subject introduces key finance and accounting concepts required by students to make sound business decisions. Students will also learn fundamental management accounting concepts in business planning, decision-making and cost control. Upon completion, students will become more effective decision makers and make informed business decisions.

This subject provides an introduction to the theories and practice of design graphics and photography. It will cover key areas such as principles of design, composition techniques, and camera controls.

BEC1008 Global Economics

The subject introduces the entity of a national economy and the structure which it exists in relationship with other economies on a global scale examining economic management by the government as it navigates macro and global economic issues such as cashless society, cryptocurrency and global sustainability.  The subject focuses on using case studies and current events to enable learners to experience the complexity of macro and global economic systems from the perspectives of economic management and firms.

This subject provides an overview of the multi-faceted hospitality and tourism industry and their key sectors. It introduces common terminologies used and covers the various theories on travel and tourism. It also highlights the interplay between demand and supply forces of the two industries and explores the major issues faced by them. This subject provides insights into the interconnectedness of places, people and landscapes of which tourism is a facet due to the social, cultural and economic activities present at tourist destinations. The subject will provide an overview of the legal system of Singapore and its various aspects, in particular, the 3 arms of government, being the Judiciary, the Legislature and the Executive.

The subject covers strategies, techniques and skills involved in legal work.  These include the understanding of the sources of law, classifying the various types of law, legal research, reading the law and interpreting statutes with a keen sense of attention to detail.

The subject provides an overview of the relationship between supply chain management and logistics management, and their impact on the success of organisations. BAF2002 Business Finance

This module provides students with applicable knowledge of sources and allocation of funds within a business enterprise, as well as the modern tools, valuation models and techniques used by financial managers in the management of funds and other financial instruments.

BAF2006 Fundamentals of Investment

This module covers the key institutional features and theories of investment and provides comprehensive knowledge on the equity and bond markets along with its significant stakeholders. Students will learn to assess risks and returns of major classes of assets such as stocks, fixed-income securities and alternative investments. Trend developments relating to sustainable investing that balances traditional investing with environmental, social, and governance-related (ESG) insights will also be discussed.

BAF2007 International Finance

This module introduces the documentation, methods of payment and the responsibilities of different parties in international trade, including the banks. It also covers the risk exposures of international trade and the measures of risk mitigation. Students will develop a broad vision and enhance their understanding of the role and nature of finance in a globalised world.

BAF2022 Information Systems & Financial Analytics

This module introduces the framework of accounting information systems (AIS) as well as the key processes and relevant controls in a business cycle. Students will acquire hands-on practical skills of using an industry-relevant financial accounting software in a cloud-based environment, and perform data-driven analytics to draw deep insights over the financial performance of a business. Trend developments on accounting information systems, software as a service (SAAS), data stewardship and data intelligence will also be discussed.

BAF2023 Auditing

This module introduces the core concepts of auditing. Students will gain practical knowledge of the audit planning process, risk identification and assessment techniques, materiality establishment, relevant internal controls and audit procedures that complies with the Singapore Standards on Auditing (SSA). Students will also be placed in a simulated audit engagement to perform audit procedures and document findings in industry-relevant audit working papers to prepare them as future-ready auditors. Trend developments on sustainability-related risks in an assurance perspective will also be discussed.

BAF2028 Management Accounting

This subject equips students with key cost and management accounting concepts and techniques for planning and control, performance evaluation and decision making.

 

Topics covered include costing methods, budgeting, performance measures, evaluation of business segments, relevant costs for decision making.

 

Students will also learn to identify and analyse sustainability-related issues to help companies improve sustainability performance.

BAF2029 Financial Accounting

Financial Accounting builds on the basic accounting principles underlying accounting practice. Topics covered include adjusting entries, goods and services tax, non-current assets, inventories, cash, share and debt capital.

 

The subject also covers the preparation of financial statements for a company.

BAF2030 Corporate & Sustainability Reporting

Corporate & Sustainability Reporting covers a wide range of accounting concepts relevant to the preparation of financial statements and disclosure requirements based on the requirements of the Financial Reporting Standards (FRS). Topics covered include revenue recognition, provisions & contingencies, events after the reporting period, impairment of assets and leases.

 

It also addresses corporate governance and professional ethics as well as introduces the environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting frameworks and standards and preparation of sustainability reports.

BIA2001 Applied Analytics

The subject aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of advanced analytical techniques and their practical applications across various fields. Students will be grounded in the data analytics life cycle and will learn techniques to ingest, process, and analyse data using predictive analytics. This will enable them to translate complex data into actionable insights. Additionally, students will enhance their critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills, ensuring accurate data interpretation and effective presentation of insights for decision-making.

BAF3027 Sustainable Finance

The subject provides students with sustainable finance strategies and solutions as well as the tools and frameworks to integrate sustainability into financial decisions. Students will also learn emerging trends and developments to spot sustainable finance and investment opportunities.

BAF3028 Taxation

This subject equips students with the income tax principles and the Singapore Income Tax Act applicable to companies, individuals, and other taxable persons. Students are also equipped to prepare tax computations and compute GST liabilities. Students will also be updated on Singapore’s tax policies relating to sustainability.

BAF3029 Advanced Financial Accounting

Advanced Financial Accounting covers more complex accounting topics on financial assets, investment property, changes in accounting policies, estimates and correction of errors, effects of changes in foreign exchange rates and deferred taxation.

 

It also equips students with group accounting principles (including accounting for subsidiaries and associates) and the ability to prepare consolidated financial statements.

This subject introduces the fundamentals of effective communication. It also covers how to communicate with and convince an audience through writing and speaking tasks. This subject covers current issues, including diverse local and global concerns, that will impact lives and may have critical implications for Singapore. This subject focuses on personal management skills. It develops an understanding of one’s career interests, values, personality and skills for career success. It covers the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to succeed in the workplace and achieve professional goals. There will be exposure to apply digital and information literacy skills, build competence through self-directed learning methods, and acquire the skills of being a lifelong learner.

This subject focuses on career management skills. It covers the importance of workplace readiness skills to adapt and respond to the changing job market environment. Career ownership and continuous learning for lifelong employability will be emphasised. GTP1302 Guided Learning*

The subject introduces students to the concepts and process of self-directed learning in a chosen area of inquiry. The process focusses on four stages: planning, performing, monitoring and reflecting. Students get to plan their individual learning project, refine and execute the learning plan, as well as monitor and reflect on their learning progress and project. The learning will be captured and showcased through a curated portfolio. The self-directed learning project will broaden and/or deepen a student’s knowledge and skills. Students will enhance their problem solving and digital literacy skills through this subject.

GTP1101 Leadership Fundamentals

This subject focuses on self-leadership based on the values of integrity, respect, and responsibility. Increasing awareness of self and others will lay the foundations for personal and relationship effectiveness. Consequential thinking, clear articulation of personal values and visions, emphatic listening, and collaboration in serving others are some of the essential skills covered in this leadership journey. There will be opportunities to build and to apply the concepts of being a values-centred leader.

GTP1102 Leadership in Action

This subject focuses on Service Learning as an experiential platform to apply the tenets of Self and Team Leadership. Service Learning will be the capstone project for this subject, which will require an analysis of the diverse needs of the community, collaboration with community partners and demonstration of learning, including key elements of empathy. There will be opportunities to build and to apply the concepts of being a values-centred leader.

INV1001 Innovation & Entrepreneurship

The subject is designed for learners from all disciplines to embrace innovation in either their specialised field or beyond.  Learners will be taught to apply the Design Thinking framework to develop problem statements, ideate and identify feasible solutions. Learners will be exposed to several tools for prototyping. In addition, commercial awareness will be imbued in learners through various innovation and entrepreneurship concepts or tools. This subject also prepares students to be self-directed lifelong learners who are digital and information literate. It nurtures communicative and collaborative citizens who can use objective analysis in problem-solving.

LSW1002 Sports & Wellness

This subject reinforces the fundamental knowledge learnt on health, fitness, exercise and sports. Hands-in time will be allocated for a greater variety of fitness exercises and sports skills in a recreation setting. In addition, theoretical knowledge such as sports safety and risk management when participating in physical activities will be introduced. Guidance will be provided for improvement of physical fitness, acquiring of sports skills and relating theoretical knowledge to the physical activities.

TGS1001 Sustainability & Climate Action*

This subject prepares students to be responsible global citizens and future leaders who can contribute to the global community.  It introduces the topics of sustainability and explores how human societies can act to build a sustainable future. This subject focuses on the impact of climate change, potential solutions to climate change, and the future of the green economy from global and local perspectives.

TGS1002 Global Studies

This subject provides essential skills and knowledge to prepare students for an overseas experience. They will examine the elements of culture and learn the key principles of cross-cultural communication. In addition, they will gain an appreciation and awareness of the political, economic, technological and social landscape to function effectively in a global environment. The subject prepares students to be responsible global citizens and leaders who can contribute to the global community through effective communication and collaboration.

WHEN DO I PAY?

There are 2 semesters in each Academic YEAR (AY). The billing periods for AY 2024/2025 are:
Semester 1:  15 April 2024 – 13 October 2024 
Semester 2:  14 October 2024 – 20 April 2025

Fees are billed and payable by semester. They are usually payable in June for Semester 1 and December for Semester 2.
