Innovation & Entrepreneurship Exhibition

16 Apr – 11 May, Library, Level 2

Temasek Polytechnic has been at the forefront in preparing its students for industry and an environment of dynamic change. To this end, students are encouraged to think out of the box, be innovative and creative and have the determination and passion to excel.

This exhibition aims to showcase the entrepreneurial spirit of TP through the innovations and success stories of its illustrious staff and students. We hope their stories will inspire you to follow your heart to create your own successes.

To keep the TP story alive, we invite you to share with us any trailblazing innovations and entrepreneurial stories in your schools or departments. Simply email us at memories@tp.edu.sg

Words of Wisdom

“Ask yourself whether you have what it takes to be an entrepreneur. Having the idea itself and a business plan itself is not sufficient. Above all, what you need is a single-minded determination to succeed regardless of any obstacles.”

Dr. Varaprasad, the first PCEO/Principal of Temasek Polytechnic shared his words of wisdom in his welcome address at the 5th National Entrepreneurship Competition closing ceremony, at Temasek Polytechnic, Auditorium 2 on 28 May 1999.

Temasek Centre for Problem-Based Learning

The Centre was set up in 1999 to establish a learning culture of problem-solving, entrepreneurial thinking, self-renewal and teamwork in TP. It promotes the adoption of PBL as a total approach to education across the schools.

In November 2003, TP was awarded The Enterprise Challenge Shield from The Enterprise Challenge, Prime Minister’s Office, for its proposal of Problem Based Learning (PBL) Education Model. Winning the award was an endorsement of TP’s pioneering role in PBL.

“Rent-A-Cart”

TP actively seeks to nurture an entrepreneurial mindset among its students. An Entrepreneurship Task Force was formed in August 2003 to provide further impetus and consolidate initiatives and education in entrepreneurship.

The “Rent-A-Cart” scheme introduced in 2003 encouraged students to rent a retail cart on campus for a nominal sum to try out their business ideas. This programme has received overwhelming response from students.
