We have included the: Interrelationship of mental health state to help participants distinguish between the 3 terms, Mental Health, Mental Distress and Mental Illness Possible risk factors that might contribute to poor mental health in the ID population, according to the bio-psycho-social model Video that consists of 3 main sections:Prevalence of Mental Illness in ID populationCommon Mental Illness in the ID populationImportance of Early DetectionChallenges Teachers may FaceModule 2: Mental Illnesses in the ID populationSigns & SymptomsThis module firstly explains the difference between signs and symptoms, followed by the eight common mental health disorders in the ID population, their prevalence and how the signs and symptoms from these disorders are presented in the ID population. And lastly, we included six common barriers towards identifying mental health issues in the ID population according to the acronym C.A.P.B.I.D. Case studies were also included to familiarise teachers with the occurrence of misidentifications in order to avoid making inaccurate conclusions in future.Module 3: Mental Illnesses in the ID populationDetectionIn this module, two checklists will be introduced namely, the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) and the Nisonger Child Behaviour Rating Form (NCBRF), that participants can use to detect possible signs and symptoms of mental illnesses in students with ID.
