b'UNDERSTANDING MENTAL ILLNESSES IN YOUNG PERSONS WITH MILD INTELLECTUAL DISABILITYModule 4: Support StrategiesThe last module focuses on providing support to different stakeholders in the mild ID population, namely the child with ID, the parent/caregiver, as well as the teachers themselves as it provides them with strategies to communicate with the students and their parent/caregiver about mental health. To help the children communicate their mental health needs more easily, we have created eight social stories revolving around different emotions so that they can better express their feelings and physical discomforts. Secondly, to support SpEd teachers and caregivers of individuals with ID, we have created a video with the aim of getting teachers to better understand the parent/caregivers perspective when their child is diagnosed with a mental illness, and an online resource containing valuable information on the importance of seeking professional help. This is based on an interview we did with a caregiver who takes care of her child with special needs and a mental illness.Facilitators Guide Participants GuideThis guide serves as an instructions booklet onThis guide serves as a valuable resource that how to facilitate the different sections of thehelps participants to engage with the training.programme. As a result, early interventions can be provided, giving mental health professionals the opportunity to support these young individuals successfully.7TH PSYCHOLOGY STUDIES 22STUDENT CONFERENCE 2021'
