b'INTEGRATING GROWTH MINDSET TO IMPROVE LIFE OUTCOMESGregory Isaac Tan Yuen Kit, Chou Lee Yee,Goh Si Ern Sarah, Elliya Elldyna Bte Hisham,Chong Zhi Xin Nicolette, Sean Nicholas TanIntroductionStress has been known to have a general negative impact on students. This can be made worse for students coming from a less stable financial background. However, research has shown that students who adopt a Growth Mindset are able to mitigate both effects. Hence, the research team is working together with the National Healthcare Group (NHG) to embed Growth Mindset concepts into the existing Primary School curriculum, in order to expose students to these concepts from a young age.MethodologyThe project was started off by establishing the objectives of the project along with mapping out the current Primary School curriculum. The Guiding Principles of our material development were subsequently determined before the materials were worked on. After the full material development was completed, feedback was gathered from the appropriate age group of students. The materials were further refined based on the feedback received before being presented to the stakeholders at NHG for further discussion. This concluded the material development process with its finalisation occurring shortly after.FindingsThe participants of the study were able to understand most of the materials developed and were engaged in each activity. Certain words and phrases were difficult to understand individually but did not hinder the overall learning points in each activity. These words and phrases were further simplified to better suit the participants level of comprehension. The Introductory Lesson developed was found to be pivotal to the participants overall understanding and learning of the concept of the Growth Mindset. A few activities were more difficult to the participants and one had failed in helping the participants accurately portray the Growth Mindset. Hence, revisions were made to these activities to better serve their purpose.7TH PSYCHOLOGY STUDIES 81STUDENT CONFERENCE 2021'
