b'A PROCESS EVALUATION OF OJOY CARE SERVICES HOA PROGRAMMECheah Wan Ling, Chin Chi Yan, Chua Ying JieIntroductionThe Health-Oriented Ageing (HOA) Programme is an active ageing programme held by OJoy Care Services for seniors. The programme consists of 3 components - Arts activities, Exercises, and Sharings. In order to assess the effect of participation in this programme, this project first seeks to evaluate how the HOA Programme is administered, according to its objectives, as well as its areas of strengths, gaps, and suggestions for improvement. As such, the guiding research question was How is the HOA Programme conducted in line with OJoy Care Services objectives?. The programme objectives aim to fulfil seniors needs in 8 aspects - physical, intellectual, sensory, spiritual, interactional, emotional, nutritional, and contextual. This project was conducted in collaboration with OJoy Care Services and students from Temasek Polytechnics Diplomas in Psychology Studies and Gerontological Management Studies. MethodologyTwo methods were used to collect data - naturalistic observations and interviews. For the observations, the student researchers created an observation sheet in order to record relevant variables, such as the engagement level of participants, programme flow and the social interactions among participants. Observations were held over the span of one working week, from the start to the end of each programme session. For the interviews, a questionnaire measuring the following variables was created and administered to interviewees: 1) motivations and deterrents of participation, 2) social relationships among participants, senior volunteers and external facilitators, and 3) perceived gaps, strengths and areas of improvements for the programme. Interviews were held after the end of the programme sessions, or based on the interviewees preferred times.
