Course Overview

The subject provides students with an introductory survey of the many applications of descriptive and inferential statistics in a business environment.  The subject will focus on the computation and interpretation of various numerical measures such as describing data, basic concepts of probability, probability distributions, estimation, hypothesis testing and linear regression and correlation analysis.

 

 

Objectives

 

The subject aims to equip students with knowledge and skills to:

  • Organise, analyse, interpret and present data related to a business environment.
  • Apply basic statistical concepts to solve simple business-related problems.

Entry Requirements

Applicants applying for modular units which are drawn from existing full diploma or post-diploma programmes will have the same minimum entry requirements as the full qualifications.
