Course Overview

The subject introduces concepts such as security monitoring, events analysis and incident response to security threats encountered in the infrastructure environment. Students will acquire skills to identify security events, alert proper authorities, take appropriate corrective or recovery actions, do back-ups, data retention etc. Students will also learn basic types of controls to manage security policies and procedures.

Entry Requirements

Applicants applying for modular units which are drawn from existing full diploma or post-diploma programmes will have the same minimum entry requirements as the full qualifications.

Modes of Assessment

  • Quizzes
    • Quizzes will be used to assess students’ understanding of the knowledge and concepts covered the various topics of the subject.
  • Practical Test
    • A practical test will be used to assess the student’s proficiency in using tools to perform basic analysis of the operation of network protocols and services. The students will also be assessed on their methods to prevent malicious access to computer networks, hosts, and data.
  • Written Test
    • A test will be used to assess and reinforce the students’ understanding and assimilation of key concepts relating to security operations and analysis.

 

 

Certification

 

Upon successful completion of the modular unit, students will be awarded a Statement of Result which can count towards the attainment of the Diploma in Infocomm and Digital Media (ICT Systems, Services & Support).
