Course Overview

Corporates and individuals alike are susceptible to cyberattack. In 2016, cybercrimes cost global economy over $450 billion. As such, data science and data security became “the sexiest jobs of the 21st century”, according to the Harvard Business Review.
 

This course will explore the field of cybersecurity, as well as introduce to you the endless battle of wit between the technology makers and the technology breakers.

 

Who Should Attend

The course does not require any prior knowledge of computer security. It is suitable for anyone interested in improving the security of their digital information.

What You'll Learn

At the end of this course, you will be able to:
 

  1. Develop a basic understanding of cybersecurity
  2. Explore the history of cybersecurity
  3. Understand the basic types of malware, threats and hackers
  4. Learn about the 'CIA triad' and the 'IAAA framework'

 

 

Mode of Assessment

 

Tests / Quizzes – measure participants’ understanding of key concepts and application of concepts learnt for each topic.

 

Group discussion/sharing – measure participants’ ability to reflect and apply learning and participation in discussions.

Participants will receive an electronic Certificate of Completion issued by Temasek Polytechnic upon completion of each MLC.
