Course Overview

This course will equip participants with the basic knowledge and skills to use the statistical tools for measurement uncertainty estimation. 

Who Should Attend

Participants who are working in or interested to work in analytical testing laboratories of various industries such as the chemical, pharmaceutical and food industries, research institutes, R&D companies and other testing sectors

What You'll Learn

At the end of this course, you will be able to:

 

  1. List basic statistical tools for measurement uncertainty estimation

  2. Identify various types of errors incurred in chemical analysis

  3. Perform calculations for the propagation of random errors

  4. Relate samples to a population

  5. Explain normal, rectangular and triangular probability distributions of data

  6. Determine the confidence interval in a measurement

  7. Identify outliers from a set of analytical data

 

 

Mode of Assessment

 

Term Tests / Quizzes / Assignments – measure participants’ understanding of key concepts and application of concepts learnt for each topic.

Participants will receive an electronic Certificate of Completion issued by Temasek Polytechnic upon completion of each MLC.
