Course Overview
Food security is a strategic national priority for Singapore. Guided by the Singapore Food Agency’s four pillars of food security, the recent emphasis on frozen food stockpiling has driven increased investment in automated and digitally enabled frozen cold chain warehouses to strengthen supply resilience, visibility, and operational efficiency.
Managing temperature sensitive food products across storage, handling, and distribution requires strong cold chain fundamentals, regulatory compliance, and robust operational practices. Cold chain operators face manpower constraints, rising costs, and higher expectations for traceability and real time control, creating opportunities for the selective application of automation and digitalisation, including digital temperature monitoring and data driven control systems. This course equips learners with the knowledge and skills to manage and improve food cold chain logistics operations in compliance with regulatory and operational requirements.
Participants will develop a practical understanding of end to end cold chain processes, including cold storage, warehousing, temperature controlled transport, and distribution, with emphasis on food safety regulations, cold chain standards, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) requirements, and digital monitoring of temperature sensitive products.
The course also introduces the application of automation and digital technologies to enhance productivity, operational reliability, and risk management in cold chain environments. Learners will examine cold chain facility and refrigeration considerations, identify operational challenges in manual processes, and identify suitable solutions such as automated storage systems, material handling technologies, and digital temperature monitoring and alert systems to support safe, efficient, and resilient cold chain operations.
