Course Overview

This course aims to equip participants with the analytical, preparative and interpretative skills that are critical to those working in a laboratory, and is mapped to laboratory technician job roles with reference to the Energy & Chemicals Skills framework.

Entry Requirements

  • Minimum N level/ITE/Relevant Diploma.
  • Participants are required to bring their own laptop with pre-installed Microsoft Excel.

What You'll Learn

Day 1

  • Laboratory Safety & Risk Management
  • Chemical Handling & Waste Disposal
  • Sampling, Sample preparation & Sample retention
  • Hands-on: Calibration of Volumetric Glassware & Analytical Balance (Intro on how to use pipette, micropipettes, analytical balance)
  • Data handling & reporting

Written Assessment (Open Book) – Consist of MCQ & Short Answer Question

 

Day 2

  • Breath Testing - Introduction to Hydrogen Breath Test (HBT), patient preparation guidelines, preparation of breath samples, performing of breath test
  • Working principles behind HBT, data handling, analysis and reporting
  • Introduction to Urea Breath Test (UBT), patient preparation guidelines, preparation of breath samples, performing of breath test
  • Working principles behind UBT
  • Breath test data handling, analysis & reporting

Written Assessment (Open Book) - Consist of MCQ & Short Answer Question

 

 

Certification

 

Participants will be issued with a Certificate of Accomplishment upon meeting 75% of the required course attendance and passed the assessments.
