This is a 3-day course co-organized by Temasek Polytechnic and American Concrete Institute (Singapore Chapter). The course will cover:
- concrete technology,
- concrete defects and causes,
- effects of fire on concrete,
- building survey and assessment,
- repair and strengthening techniques,
- case studies on HDB internal flat repair and
- demonstration of inspection equipment, tools for detecting building defects, cracks and rebar.

Mr Lu Jin Ping
Managing Director, Admaterials Technologies Pte Ltd
President, American Concrete Institute Singapore Chapter (ACI SC)
Mr Lu Jin Ping currently heads the testing operation of Admaterials Technologies Pte Ltd, managing the testing activities and analysis of construction materials. Mr Lu has more than 20 years of experience working in areas of research & development, testing and technical consultancy for construction materials. He was a Lecturer in the department of construction materials at Tongji University China from 1988-1994. He was also the Assistant General Manager of CPG Laboratories Pte Ltd in charge of Technology Development Division. In addition, he was the principal consultant for Vivo City Feature Wall Project.
Mr Lu is currently the President of American Concrete Institute - Singapore Chapter. He was also a member of the Singapore Concrete Institute and American Concrete Institute.
Mr Lu has also presented papers at various international conferences in the region and has published articles on testing, performance and research on construction materials.
He is the approved person accepted by BCA for the testing and analysis of imported sand and aggregate and the lead auditor for certification of Ready-Mix Concrete Products by Singapore Accreditation Council.
Dr Tao Nengfu

Dr Tao joined Singapore Polytechnic (SP) in 2000 and is currently a Senior Lecturer in the School of Architecture and the Built Environment. His teaching focuses on CAD with BIM, Steel Design & CAD, and Structural Inspection and Repair. Prior to joining SP, he worked in Tongji University, Shanghai, China as a Lecturer, Hehai University, Nanjing, China first as a Post Doctor and then as an Associate Professor, Nanyang Technological University as a Post Doctor Fellow, and SembCorp Construction as an Engineer. His main focus is on Structural Engineering, Soil Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering.
Mr Joseph Lim
Senior Technical Manager, Island Concrete

Mr Lim supervises the QA/QC/Technical Department in the production control of ready-mixed concrete, design of concrete mix products, product development, training and development of staffs and technical consultancy services to clients.
Dr Wong Sook Fun

Dr Wong obtained her BE(Hons) (Civil Engineering) in 1986 and MEngSci (Materials Engineering) in 1989 from Monash University, Australia; she received her PhD (Civil Engineering) from National University of Singapore in 1998. She was the recipient of Scott and Furphy Engineers Pty Ltd Prize in Australia and SsangYong Young Concrete Researcher Award in Singapore, as well as Monash Research Scholarship in Australia and NUS Research Scholarship in Singapore.
Her fields of expertise include Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering as well as Materials Science and Technology. Her research interests cover advanced materials and environmental technology; sustainable development of composites and structural components; integration of materials design with structural performance; as well as utilization of waste materials and industrial by-products.
She has published over 40 journal articles and international conference papers; and she is a Reviewer of ACI Materials Journal and ACI Structural Journal published by ACI (International) in USA.
